Family Security Matters does not stand behind or endorse any candidate for president (or any other public office). However, as the President is also Commander-in-Chief and is responsible for setting national security policy, we will be publishing a variety of articles on both the Republican and Democrat candidates for President during this election year. As always, the opinions of our Contributing Editors are their own, and do not necessarily reflect those of Family Security Matters.

5. Is it true that if I don't support particular counterterrorism policies that I'm not a patriotic American?
Disagreement about how best to protect the United States from terrorism is to be expected - this is a very complex problem. Debate about which policies should be implemented should be encouraged, for an open exchange of ideas competing for public support will help policymakers find the one that is best. What all patriotic Americans can agree on is that the United States must be safe and secure. It is only when someone actively works to make the United States less safe or less successful that they have the potential to cross the line of acceptable behavior.
