Middle East

Geographic region that includes Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan, and the countries of the Arabian peninsula.  Some people include North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in the Greater Middle East.  The people of the Middle East are predominantly Arab, excluding Israel, Turkey and the countries along the eastern border, and Muslim, although pockets of other religions, such as Judaism and Christianity, exist.
