People of the Book

People of the Book

Islamic term to describe the common heritage of Muslims, Christians, and Jews, as people whose faiths can all be traced to Abraham and who share some holy texts.  In Islam, the People of the Book are to be accorded certain rights and respect that are not necessary for members of other religions.
