2008 Campaign

Family Security Matters does not stand behind or endorse any candidate for president (or any other public office). However, as the President is also Commander-in-Chief and is responsible for setting national security policy, we will be publishing a variety of articles on both the Republican and Democrat candidates for President during this election year. As always, the opinions of our Contributing Editors are their own, and do not necessarily reflect those of Family Security Matters.

Campaign Dedicated to Passengers of United Airlines Flight 93

New York, NY-January 23...Family Security Matters, a non-partisan resource for American families in need of information about national security issues and disaster preparedness, today announced that it is launching an aggressive, year-long public information campaign, called Safe at Home, to re-emphasize homeland security issues in the national debate and to convince Americans to better prepare for potential catastrophes, both natural and terrorist-related.

Safe at Home, which is dedicated to the brave passengers of United Airlines Flight 93, who sacrificed their lives to prevent al Qaeda terrorists from crashing that plane into a Washington, D.C. target, will be a multi-pronged campaign that will include professional polling, candidate questionnaires, advertising, and aggressive media outreach to highlight critical national security issues. In addition, Safe at Home will provide American voters with objective and non-partisan voter guides to educate them about the positions of the 2008 Presidential candidates on national security matters.

"Homeland security and resiliency should forever remain the number one issue for Americans in today's world," said Carol Taber, President and co-founder of Family Security Matters. "But more and more we are seeing candidates evade specific discussion about these crucially important topics, and that is not helpful to the American family. Safe at Home will re-emphasize these issues in the national conversation in a responsible and sober manner and provide Americans with the information they need to make good decisions."

"Safe at Home is about empowering families to take responsibility for security planning where they live," said Family Security Matters co-founder Amanda Bowman. "Government plays a key role in protecting its citizenry, but it is individual Americans that make this country strong and resilient. The coming decades may be challenging for America and its allies, but there is nothing we cannot overcome with proper planning and attitude."

Family Security Matters is America's leading online family resource for information about all international and domestic security issues, how they affect the American family, and what those families can do to best prepare for any eventuality. In the past year alone, millions of Americans have visited the Family Security Matters website for news and information.
