Exclusive: ‘The Great Schlep’ – Why Should Jews Vote for Obama?
Ben Shapiro
Potty-mouthed Jewish comedienne Sarah Silverman recently posted a video on YouTube entitled "The Great Schlep." In it, Silverman says that should Barack Obama lose the upcoming presidential election she will "blame the Jews." "I'm making this video to urge you, all of you, to schlep over to Florida and convince your grandparents to vote Obama," says Silverman. "It can make the difference. Explain to them that we're all the same inside. You know you could compare an elderly Jewish woman like Nana to a young black man. They may seem totally different, but on paper they're the same."
Why, pray tell, should Jews vote for Obama? "The name Barack is Hebrew word…it means lightning. And I would much rather have a president who's name means lightning than a president named John whose name means toilet or a guy who f---s hookers. Here are some fun facts: Barack Obama's foreign policy is much more stabilizing than John Mccain's…and much better for Israel. He wants to protect social security. His brisket is beyond. It's beyond. He's circum-supersized."
Clearly, Silverman has all the brains of a cricket and the wit of a dunghill. She doesn't bother to give a single reason Jews should vote for Obama, beyond platitudes about stabilizing foreign policy, which means precisely nothing.
I, on the other hand, can give tons of reasons why Jews should not vote for Obama. In fact, I could make an entire 20 minute video about it.
Actually, I did. It's right here.
Obama's advisors are almost uniformly radically anti-Israel. He has already had to backtrack on policy regarding an undivided Jerusalem, highlighting a lack of experience and knowledge in Israeli affairs. He served on the board of a group that funded an Arab group that considers the establishment of Israel as a nation as a “catastrophe.” His running mate, Joe Biden, has one of the worst records on Israel in the Senate.
Even his friends are anti-Israel. His former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is notoriously anti-Israel. Among Wright’s comments about Israel is this one:
The Israelis have illegally occupied Palestinian territories for almost 40 years now. It took a divestment campaign to wake the business community up concerning the South Africa issue. Divestment has now hit the table again as a strategy to wake the business community up and to wake Americans up concerning the injustice and the racism under which the Palestinians have lived because of Zionism.
Wright, in turn, is an admirer of Louis Farrakhan, the anti-Semitic leader of the Nation of Islam who, among other things, claimed the Jews cooperated with Hitler in the perpetration of the Holocaust.
But Sarah Silverman thinks that Jews should vote for him. And she thinks that if they don't, they're racist "douche-nozzles."
Well, Sarah, I hereby challenge you to come forward and demonstrate why Jews should vote Obama. I challenge you to a debate on the issue. Anytime, anywhere, except for Jewish holidays (I actually celebrate those, since I actually care about Judaism beyond the occasional bagel and lox and feature in the LA Jewish Journal). I don't expect you to get back to me, since I'm not sure you can read, if your vocabulary is any indicator. But your publicist should be able to read.
Have her schedule the debate. Tell America's Jews why they should vote into office the most anti-Israel candidate since 1948. And no, four-letter words don't constitute reasoning, so I won't be cowed by your fluency in dirty language.
