A rally, organized by the New York Veterans for John McCain, will take place on Saturday, November 1st, in support of John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Gary Bernsten, a decorated former CIA career officer, has led the national Veterans for McCain effort. A frequent guest on television talk shows, Gary is a 20-year veteran and former CIA career officer who was the 2001 CIA field commander for the Agency’s Jawbreaker team in Afghanistan.
“The United States of America is locked in a deadly conflict with Islamic extremism. Small numbers of terrorists leveraging technology can cause great harm to our nation if we are not vigilant. Sen. John McCain understands the need to remain on offense against the scourge of terrorism, and he is ready to lead our great nation on ’Day One.’ Sen. McCain has the experience and political philosophy to guide our country through turbulent times. He is an American icon, and Veterans, their families, and friends can count on his steady hand,” said Bernsten.
Barack Obama may have received the endorsement of Gen. Colin Powell, but a recently released Military Times poll shows a much different picture. Overall, military members surveyed overwhelmingly support the McCain candidacy by a margin of nearly 3-to-1.
Known as the “Victory Rally” among the volunteer Veterans, the NYC event boasts a full line-up of speakers including Gary Bernsten; Colonel Barry Bridger, a Vietnam era Prisoner of War; Peter King (R-NY), former Army serviceman and Representative for New York’s 3rd Congressional District; and Joe Femenia, a former Navy SEAL who served America in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The rally will take place at Foley Square Park (near City Hall), Manhattan (4, 5, and 6 trains to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall; R, W lines to City Hall; J, M, and Z service to Chambers Street) on Saturday, November 1st, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon, rain or shine, and is open to all.
