Exclusive: Tax Day ‘TEA’ Parties – Coming to a City Near You!
The Editors
You probably haven’t heard Katie, Charlie or Brian talk about them, nor the overly-happy hosts and hostesses of the morning news/entertainment shows – they’re all still stuck in the afterglow of the election – but tea parties are springing up around the nation. Not the kind of tea you have with crumpets, but protests reminiscent of that most famous of tea parties held in Boston in 1773.
The American Family Association has announced its count is nearing 1,600 – for Tax Day, April 15th, alone. The group planned to coordinate 1,000 of their Taxed Enough Already parties, popularly known as TEA parties, to be held at noon on April 15 in front of town and city halls across the U.S., but it looks as though the goal will be doubled before Tax Day arrives.
Donald E. Wildmon, AFA chairman, reports, "Our goal was to have a TEA party in 1,500 cities. We are nearly 100 cities above our goal and still growing." In addition to the AFA-sponsored TEA parties, hundreds of parties planned by other groups are springing up for Tax Day, various Saturdays, and Independence Day.
Wildmon adds, “The runaway spending by President Obama and Congress will have a definite negative effect on our families. We are leaving a debt of trillions of dollars to be paid by our grandchildren and great-grandchildren.”
